Interview With Jim Adkins

Sunday, March 3, 2002
105.9 Lava Rock via phone

It was the day before Jimmy Eat World would play for a capacity audience at World Cafe. Frontman Jim Adkins was hosting an hour radio session on 105.9 Lava Rock, and I got the chance to do a short interview with him. Here's what we talked about:

Q: First of all, me and some news writing students from my school are going to Phoenix next month [for a nationwide journalism conference]. What's the weather like in Phoenix, in April?

Jim Adkins: It's pretty nice. It might be pretty hot, actually. I'd say, prepare for extreme heat and be pleasantly surprised if it gets cold, where you have to put a jacket on or something.

Q: Who had the idea for the music video for "The Middle"?

JA: The director, Paul Fedor, came up with the idea for that. Yeah, he kind of presented it to us and we said, 'Okay.'

Q: How do you guys like Hawai`i?

JA: It's totally awesome. It's kind of hard to give a more descrpitive answer than that 'cause we haven't, like, played or anything yet. We've just been lounging around. It's totally awesome.
